Education

Some people might think that responsibility for road safety is entirely the job of engineers, designers and law enforcement. True, we are deeply indebted to the work of those professionals who have worked to ensure safe travel on the roads. However, every person behind the wheel of a vehicle has a responsibility to themselves and to other motorists to drive responsibly. Education plays a key role in helping the public understand what they should and should not do when driving. Increased education leads to a change in habits and, ultimately, a decline in fatalities on our roads.

While education is a key ingredient to improving the quality of life of Utah's citizens, it must be combined with effective enforcement efforts and strong legislation. By educating motorists that traffic laws are important and law enforcement will issue citations, motor vehicle fatalities and injuries are prevented.
